A typewriter that combines the best of technology with zero distraction

The informational chaos we are exposed to daily can make us prone to distractions or some kind of multitasking mind, in fact, very few people can get through the day without it ending. Under this constant bombardment we have of social networks, mobile notifications and computers, in addition to ongoing conversations in courier services, our attention is sometimes crippled in this connected universe.

Of course, this doesn’t affect everyone, much depends on each person’s activities, but it is a reality that some people need silence and zero distractions to get things done. Thus freeWriteA project was born in 2014 via Kickstarter, providing us with an interesting update to the typewriter we all know, but with elements that are well adapted to this connected world.

FreeWrite: The “Smart” Typewriter
FreeWrite is a typewriter that offers the benefits of a word processor, but without the usual distractions we have in computers, plus we can use it anywhere, thus bringing that old romanticism that lives without electricity and WiFi connections. Had to write in remote places.

Among its features, we find a 5.5-inch electronic ink screen with a resolution of 300 dots per inch, a rechargeable battery that provides up to four weeks of range, weighs only 1.8 kg, storage for more than one million pages , it according to the creators, as well as WiFi connection which will help us to synchronize our work with compatible services like Google Drive, Evernote and Dropbox.

Its design is aluminum and part of its magic lies in the full-size mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches. On the screen we could choose typefaces and configure cloud services, and other issues to help us personalize the experience.

Of course the FreeWrite is focused on people who want to write anywhere without distraction, it’s available in multiple colors and is scheduled for March anywhere in the world priced at $499 for a limited time.
