Actually, the state government in West Bengal has increased the dearness allowance of the employees. During the budget session on Wednesday, Finance Minister (Independent Charge) Chandrima Bhattacharya has announced a 3 percent increase in DA Arrear of employees in the budget.
Employees were demanding to increase Dearness allowance
The Finance Minister informed in the House that from March 1, the employees will get the benefit of increased dearness allowance. Government employees in West Bengal have been demanding an increase in DA Arrear for a long time. For this, the workers were also demonstrating under Shaheed Minar in Kolkata. In such a situation, the government took this step to fulfill the demand of the employees who went on strike.
Central employees are also waiting for DA Arrear hike
Tell that the central employees are also waiting for the increase in Dearness Allowance. It is being claimed in the media reports that the central government may announce an increase in the DA Arrear of the employees before Holi! Central employees are currently getting DA at the rate of 38 per cent. There can be an increase of four percent in this.
Dearness allowance is reviewed twice a year by the Central Government. This happens in January and July. Whenever the DA Arrear hike is announced by the Central Government, it will be applicable from January 2023. In such a situation, the DA of central employees may increase to 42 percent.

After state employees, now Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has gifted permanent employees of temples under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE). An increase of four per cent has been ordered in the dearness allowance of these employees.
Allowance increased to 38 percent According to the government’s statement, the DA Arrear of temple employees has now increased from 34 percent to 38 percent. This has become effective from January 1, 2023. About 10,000 permanent employees will be benefited by the increase in Dearness Allowance and the government will be burdened with Rs.7 crore annually. This order is applicable to those temples whose annual income is one lakh rupees or more.

The chief minister has also ordered to increase the Pongal festival bonus from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 for all temple employees (full-time, part-time or daily wage workers). This DA Arrear will put a burden of Rs 1.5 crore on the exchequer this year. It is noteworthy that the dearness allowance of the state employees was also increased by four percent from 34 percent to 38 percent recently.
